Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He saved four initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
